The Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam:
Unknown Year Siegle, Hill & Co. F. Sangorski & G. Sutcliffe E. Geddes Edition

This edition was “reproduced from a manuscript written and illuminated by F. Sangorski & G. Sutcliffe” with illustrations from E. Geddes and published by Siegle, Hill & Co. Later in the book, it indicates specifically that A. Sutcliffe did the “borders, initials and writing”.

It has an introduction from A. C. Benson, which is titled in the book as ‘Preface’. I included the entirety of it as I found it interesting. I found the style of the text beautiful to look at but in long stretches hard to read, however.

The cover is gold toned, and depending on the lighting can appear more or less intensely gold. It really picks up and shines against the light. This is hard to get across in photographs (at least for me!).

It is truly a beautifully constructed book. The whole feel of the book with the art and illumination evokes a different aesthetic time period for me.
