This edition is well described by its title: it is a “personal selection from the five editions of the Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam by FitzGerald by Cecile E. Mactaggart”.
It has art from Dulac and Pogany. Calligraphy is by Margery O. Erickson. It also has a lot of quotes/intro pages which I haven’t, except for one quote, included in this entry. It also has a ‘afterword’ section from the editor for lack of a better term, with basically…the story of the journey? It is dated 1975.
This edition/book vexes me, hence it was at first in the ‘other media’ section of the website and then I later moved it under editions. It doesn’t feel quite like a typical edition and the composition and layout is frustrating for a cataloger such as myself, so that was part of it too. But I decided to move it under ‘Editions’ due to this Limited Editions Club edition also being a ‘curated selection’ of the texts. At least for now that is my decision.
It has an entry on Goodreads, apparently. It says 1994 for year there plus Cemac Enterprises, Ltd as publisher. I did an ISBN search and it yielded 1995 and also says Cemac Enterprises, Limited as publisher. I am not sure how I feel about relying on that for core metadata so I’ve left those datapoints out for now.
This edition is part of a greater collection from Barbara Campbell that I purchased a portion of.
Added inline acquisition note
Moved into mainline editions, rewrote copy/fixed some things.
